Inventory and start of shopping list(s)

I've decided to dedicate every Saturday/Sunday afternoon to do a check on my inventory and create my menu based somewhat off of my stock (which will build over time - yay!) and then create my shopping lists, plus add what I can based on sales. My goal this next week is to spend only $60. I actually think this sounds like a lot, but of course the prices on things are going up, up, up before our eyes. So I tried to give myself a cushion.

Inventory so far looks like:
Meat and other frozen
ground beef ~ 5 lb frozen (prepared)
chicken breasts ~ 1 1/2 bags
pork chops ~ 1 pkg frozen
fro veggies ~ 6 bags

Canned goods
canned gr. beans ~ 4
canned corn ~ 3
petite diced tomatoes ~ 6
cream of's ~ 10
tomato sauce

Pasta

spaghetti (double check pantry)
lasagne ~ 0
ditalini ~ 1
elbow macaroni ~ 2
various others ~ 7

chicken broth ~ 2 cartons

Additional perishable:
fruit
green pepper
tomato
milk

Staples this week
salt
pepper
Mrs. Dash
ketchup
BBQ sauce

* will indicate I can use it for more than one recipe

TO GET:
onion ~ 1
celery
carrots ~ 1 bag mini
red potatoes

This is a work in progress - tomorrow I will be posting recipes and starting my list(s)!

Holy unbelievable savings, Batman!

So I was just checking my local Target ad today... and voila! Similac was on mega sale! So I grabbed my coupons and my rebates, and headed out! I was able to also sign up for the Target Red card, which saves me 5% every purchase - woohoo! So I counted out I think $30 in rebates, and $10 in coupons. I got 17 bottles of Similac for $31 - go me! That was $99.62 in savings, almost $100!! Then I got home and had more coupons/rebates waiting for me in the mail. I have been so blessed with these coupons, it just makes me want to continue on and pay it forward!

Speaking of paying it forward, I went through JR's closet the last week or so and I was able to get 2 very large boxes put together, and 2 Wal-Mart bags of clothes... I was able to pay it forward to three boys : )

OK! tomorrow's post will be my recipes I'll use next week, inventory of what I have and then Saturday I will be finishing inventory and creating my weekly shopping list.

OOOoooohhhhh can't wait for more savings!

Also started a new program online that I can synch on my phone - GroceryIQ... still trying to figure it out -

We're clipped - now making my list(s)

All coupons are clipped from Sunday's paper! Got 2 papers actually, so that is exciting! Starting to really see why people buy on impulse, as far as buying when the "buy" is good. I didn't NEED 10 tubes of toothpaste last week, but I got 10/$10 and had a $1.50 coupon so that was quite a deal considering each was originally almost $2.

What I'm stumped at is finding a good method to price compare between stores. Starting to understand a lot more why this is time consuming - but hey I've got the time LOL!
